Carmen,
Rick Melnicoe and Wilfred Burr asked me to respond to the following questions on behalf of Colorado.
Question 1.
What is the typical/average size of a sugarbeet, table beet, and/or spinach
fields in your state? Please provide a range of field sizes from smallest
to largest.
Answer:
Sugarbeetaverage field size is 80A with a range of 25 - 140 A.
Spinachaverage field size is 60A with a range of 25 - 140 A.
Question 2.
Do growers/applicators use a closed mixing and loading system
for chemigation application of liquid cycloate?
Answer:
Cycloate is rarely used in Colorado currently, but if used, the grower/applicator
would use a closed system when chemigating.
What is the typical number of acres treated per day for this application method?
Answer:
140 A.
Question 3.
Do growers/applicators use a closed mixing and loading system for impregnation
of liquid cycloate formulations onto dry bulk fertilizer?
Answer:
When cycloate was used in Colorado, a closed mixing system (dry blender)
was used.
What is the typical equipment used?
It was applied with a ground rig.
What is the typical number of acres treated per day for this application method?
An applicator could apply up to 500A/day.
Question 4.
Are growers/applicators applying the cycloate impregnated dry bulk fertilizer
with enclosed tractor/sprayer cabs?
Answer:
If a Colorado grower or applicator used cycloate, they would perform the
application with an enclosed cab.
Question 5.
What would be the impact on growers in your company if the chemigation
and/or impregnated dry bulk fertilizer application methods for cycloate
were no longer available for use on these three crops?
Answer:
Almost none because we have Dual for spinach and Nortron (banded)
in sugarbeets.
Question 6
What is the typical and maximum application rate for these three
crops?
Answer:
When cycloate was used, the maximum rate in spinach was 3 lbs/A.
When cycloate was used, the maximum rate in sugarbeets was 3 lbs/A.
Contact me if you need further information or clarification of any of my responses.
