Fluazifop Information Request
Subject: fluazifop data call in

Hi All,
The fluazifop regulatory manager from Syngenta called me a few minutes ago. They've received a data call in for fluazifop (Fusilade). In the data call in the EPA is requesting two additional metabolism studies and additional field trials for endive, sweet potato and rhubarb.
Syngenta is considering if they'll conduct the additional metabolism studies. They'll support the major crops on the label (soybeans and cotton), but the specialty crops could be adversely affected.
In the mean time, it would be helpful if IR-4 stakeholders could give their opinion on the importance of fluazifop. Many of the same uses are on the sethoydim (Poast) label, and we've had a number of clethodim studies over the last several years and will be making some big submissions with that compound.
We'll be in North Carolina next week visiting registrants, including Syngenta on Wednesday at which time fluazifop will be discussed. An idea on the level of support for fluazifop on labeled crops for food uses (stone fruits, asparagus, carrots, onions, garlic, coffee, endive, macadamia nuts, pecans, rhubarb, sweet potatoes and Tabasco peppers) would be useful for the discussion.
Have a great weekend.
Fred
