EPA may refine the oxamyl drinking water assessment for selected use sites, and additional information regarding "actual" use patterns could help to more accurately reflect this chemical's use in the field. EPA requests input from USDA regarding use rates and use patterns for the pesticide active ingredient oxamyl (Product name Vydate L, EPA Reg No. 352-372) on bananas/plantains, ginger, pineapple, and yams. The locations registered for use of oxamyl are: bananas/plantains in Puerto Rico, ginger in Hawaii, pineapple in Puerto Rico and Hawaii, and yams in Puerto Rico. Due in part to these geographical restrictions, EPA does not have use information regarding actual application rates, numbers of applications per season, etc.

(The attached table includes the maximum use patterns per the product label that are likely higher than actual use patterns.)

We request USDA's help to see if any use information is available regarding typical application rates, typical numbers of applications per year, typical application / retreatment intervals, and a typical seasonal rate for each of these four uses for oxamyl.
