Dr. Chandgoyal,
For ornamental palms in Hawaii, propiconazole is used following the provisions in a "Note" that appears on labels for some propiconazole products. This example is from the Banner MAXX Label (attached):
"Note: . . . Before using Banner MAXX on plants or for diseases that are not listed in the Directions for Use, test Banner MAXX on a small scale basis first. Do not apply Banner MAXX to African violets, begonias, Boston fern, or geraniums. Apply to recommended rates for a particular type of disease, i.e., rust, powdery mildew, etc., and evaluate for phytotoxicity and disease control prior to widespread use."
Similar language can be found on labels for other propiconazole products.
It is our understanding thjat, since palms are not among the prohibited sites, application to palms is allowable for products with the above label language, provided that appropriate testing has been conducted.
To our knowledge there are no propiconazole labels that indicate specific directions for the use of propiconazole in nurseries for the control of Bipolaris and Pseudocercospora in Kentia, Rhapis and other palms (ornamental).
